A missing tooth or teeth can be hard on your dental health and a general source of frustration. Unfortunately, tooth loss can occur for a variety of reasons, including an injury to the mouth, tooth decay, or gingivitis (also known as gum disease).
By replacing a missing tooth, you can restore your dental health and the appearance of your smile. That's why Spencer Creek Dental Care is proud to offer dental implants—a restorative dental procedure that will provide the foundation for a natural-looking healthy smile.
Understanding Dental Implants
How does a dental implant work? A dental implant is an integral structure that serves as the foundation for a replacement or permanent (fixed) tooth. The dental implant is placed in the bone socket of the missing tooth, where the jaw begins to heal around it. After the healing process has taken place, a small connecting post (called an abutment) is attached to the dental implant and it is eventually attached to the new tooth impression (crown).
